One of those opportunities happened the second day of our ride. We have SAG vans to support us, but we also have a truck which carries all the supplies plus 22 (plus) riders will need: tires, and pumps, and gels - oh my. The truck also carries our "luggage" (aka small duffels that hold all we hold dear on this voyage.). On that morning, the truck with precious cargo, broke down. It is a rental, so no fault of CR.
We as riders did not know about the angst and trouble shooting that was going on behind the scenes. We were allowed to bask in our "ignorance" as we pedaled out way out of California (which apparently takes forever...it looked so easy on the map.)
This was not the riders' challenge - it belonged to our CR friends who put smiles on their faces, and had the "carry on", stiff upper lip (like you Tony), and forged ahead. So what do you do when life hands you a lemon?

You call a cab. And keep it for the day following riders. And stuff all those bags in there. And smile.
The big question is, did they return or replace the CR truck. Tracy and her group specially modify the rental truck for the XC trip, building shelves, bike racks, etc. Hopefully, it was just a repair that didn't required them to swap trucks.
