For Spacious Skies

The mornings are now cool enough for one jacket for Jeff, two for me. It's quiet in the early mornings. Birds and dogs are the only sounds we hear. The sun is slow to rise, and through the clouds you can actually see the dimensions of the sun's light.

Today was a "tandem day". Those of you tandem riders know what I'm talking about.
Rolling hills, stealth downhills, and no headwinds are a tandem's friend.
We rode 87 miles in 6.5 hours including a lunch stop, two SAG stops, a visit to a historic train and a halfway point for cross country bikers everywhere, and a view from Pawnee Rock.
For a tandem - that's smokin'.
Thank goodness - my saddle weary parts needed a mattress to sit on.
King of Pawnee Rock
Middle of somewhere
Wheels taller than the big guy
We've started seeing home gardens, and it makes me miss mine.
But all I have to do is look straight up, and all thoughts
of anything other than the bike, the breathing,
                                                                                                and the blue skies...
                                                                                                                           vanish in thin air.
Oh beautiful
For spacious skies

You know this part...

  2. Pastor Bob mentioned your blog this morning -- it was staring me in the face on FB but I didn't figure it out. Sounds like you are having a great time. Keep up the good pedaling. Do you go through St. Louis?
