Today was a "tandem day". Those of you tandem riders know what I'm talking about.
Rolling hills, stealth downhills, and no headwinds are a tandem's friend.
We rode 87 miles in 6.5 hours including a lunch stop, two SAG stops, a visit to a historic train and a halfway point for cross country bikers everywhere, and a view from Pawnee Rock.
For a tandem - that's smokin'.
Thank goodness - my saddle weary parts needed a mattress to sit on.

But all I have to do is look straight up, and all thoughts
of anything other than the bike, the breathing,
and the blue skies...
vanish in thin air.

It really was a lovely day out here in the Midwest :)
ReplyDeletePastor Bob mentioned your blog this morning -- it was staring me in the face on FB but I didn't figure it out. Sounds like you are having a great time. Keep up the good pedaling. Do you go through St. Louis?
